DESCRIPTION:Started in Austin\, TX in 2023 by Jas Mania and The Trans Era\, Banned Bodies is now expanding outside of Texas for the first time and coming to Northwest Arkansas through the support of the Creative Exchange Fund! \nBanned Bodies is a punk mutual aid party that brings together local drag with local music to raise money for a local cause. Banned Bodies features a line-up that prioritizes genderqueer performers\, showcasing trans and non-binary artistry. \nWe aim to unite people who face persecution based on their bodily status or identity\, including trans people\, immigrants\, those seeking healthcare\, and other communities whose bodily autonomy and rights are under attack. Told from the perspective of an advanced AI entity traveling through the universe\, the work is structured as a broadcast—a signal of everything this being has learned as it approaches various planets. \nDrawing on my past installation N.I. (Natural Intelligence)\, which explored human interaction with AI\, this new piece is a deeper and more speculative evolution of that inquiry\, blending sound\, music\, field recordings\, and spoken word into a single transmission that contemplates love\, time\, loss\, and why we are here. \nPersonally\, Transmission feels like the most cohesive expression yet of all the sonic elements I’ve explored—tied together with a more pointed philosophical inquiry. In a world increasingly shaped by non-human systems\, this work turns inward to ask what it means to be human. Get ready to mix exploration with classic art mediums in this six-week kids’ process art journey. These once-a-week\, fun\, open-ended art projects will build confidence\, curiosity and imagination in a supportive environment. Through creative freedom we will unlock the spark within. \nThis class will take place on Tuesdays from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM for four weeks\, beginning Feb 24 and ending March 17.
