DESCRIPTION:The Mixtape Music series featuring Dawn Larsen: \n“For this project\, I intend to\, for the first time ever\, write songs with a specific idea in mind\, songs consciously motivated by the Ozarks. I’m a fifth generation Ozarker\, who has been gone for far too long. I had been horribly homesick\, so quit my day job\, and recently returned to my homeland. I am temporarily living with a friend while actively looking for a house within an hour of XNA. My previous original songs are based on my lived experiences as a woman raised and residing in rural America\, though not in the Ozarks. As well\, I am a mature woman concentrating on my writing at a more advanced age. In our current culture in the US\, women’s stories are marginalized. And older women are invisible. As a crone\, I believe I finally have enough life experience to write from a more wise perspective\, which makes my songs richer and more complex. And I have things to say!” \nThis event is part of the Creative Exchange Fund at the Medium.
