We are proposing a multi-sensory installation that examines the deterioration of human attention and emotional resilience in the digital age. The exhibit will occupy a medium to large gallery space and feature three primary components: large ceramic sculptures, audiovisual projection, and an immersive soundscape. Dimmed lighting will emphasize the projection and reflective glazes, creating a disorienting environment that mirrors modern cognitive fatigue.

This collaboration began with a conversation about a ceramic piece I made, inspired by the traditional Mexican ritual for healing “el susto”, a condition where the soul is startled out of the body. The concept for this piece was catalyzed the moment I opened my phone first thing in the morning and was confronted with an uncensored video of a child bleeding to death in a war zone. That image stayed with me. It haunted me. And it sparked urgent questions about the overwhelming, often traumatic content we consume daily, especially online, and how little time we’re given to process it. This project matters because it speaks to an invisible but widely shared experience: the quiet erosion of our attention, our empathy, and our nervous systems. Through clay, light, and sound, we will create a space for reflection, emotional release, and ultimately, a kind of cleansing.
