Parteaguas, in Spanish, which translates to “watershed” and refers to a critical point in time, is an experimental collage art project. The project invites members of the Northwest Arkansas community to donate personal ephemera such as letters, photographs, and notes (or copies of them), which will be sorted and scanned in the CACHE studio space.
I will utilize these collected materials as the foundation to create a series of original analog collage artworks that reinterpret and celebrate individual and collective memory. The project explores the transformational human journey, emphasizing gratitude for the present while reflecting on the emotional imprint of the past. It highlights the significance of one’s roots as a foundation for identity and creativity and engages deeply with nostalgia, honoring fragments of personal stories.
In the midst of a chaotic world, Parteaguas invites the Northwest Arkansas audience to pause and reflect through art. Beyond life’s challenges, this project serves as a gentle reminder to celebrate the person we are today.
