I write music for midi felt piano; felt piano is a technique where a piece of felt is placed between the hammers and strings, creating a softer, muted sound. My music explores ideas of softness, openness, intimacy, and trust and I am interested in how music performance intersects with space and access. These themes would be explored through a dreamy performance where the goal is to create an atmosphere in which people feel comfortable letting go and experiencing the music on an intimate level. Chairs would be provided, but the audience would also be invited to bring mats, blankets, and pillows if they prefer to lay down. Soft lighting accents would add to the dreamlike atmosphere.
