Mount Comfort is a new indie-rock project based around combining multiple artistic mediums to tell stories–all focused through the music. We are currently working producing our first album, which is a concept album centered around the fictional character of Valencia.

This album is comprised of a record left behind by Valencia after her death, which is used as the eulogy at her funeral service. Performances, therefore, serve as a sort of funeral, with the audience formulating the funeral attendees. This album will tell the story of her abusive relationship, and give her the voice that she did not have in life both in the world of the story and in real life.

I am hoping to reach an audience that understands the nature of abuse and what it does to a person, or those who are aware of the issues but may not understand what it does to a person. This is an album comprised both of mourning and of understanding. I believe that there are perspectives and audiences, especially locally, that are unreached by this form of storytelling, especially being told through the queer lens, and that is my biggest hope with the project.
