My project is the creation of a 5-10 minute “animatic” for my animated film The Fox in the Walled Garden. An animatic is the first stage of the animation process: a storyboarded blueprint for an animated film. It’s not completely animated, but has full voice, sound, and music, and feels like watching a movie.

This animatic would be a piece of the full feature film, and serve as a proof of concept for both the movie and myself as director. The Fox in the Walled Garden is a coming-of-age adventure about friendship, feeling out of place in a utopian society, the struggle to live in harmony with nature, and the power of truth. I’ve been developing the screenplay for three years, and I think it will really resonate with our world today.
