What does “capacity-building support” mean?
Capacity-building support means investing in the tools, systems, and professional guidance that help artists and organizations grow stronger and more sustainable over time. Instead of funding a project or event, this type of support helps improve the business and operational side of creative work, things like marketing, financial planning, legal support, fundraising, branding, and organizational systems are great examples of what Take Action is intended to support.
Why is 3 years of experience/activity an eligibility requirement?
This funding is specifically for organizations and artists with at least 3 years of activity. This focus supports applicants who have navigated challenges like COVID-19, economic changes, government and policy shifts, and philanthropic transitions over the past few years.
Will this be an annual opportunity?
At this time, Take Action is a one-time initiative, so the time to apply is now!
If my consultant charges an amount larger than the Take Action fund provides, can I still use the grant and pay the difference?
Absolutely! After you’ve been notified of a successful application, it is up to you to negotiate pricing and deliverables with your consultant.
Can I use the Take Action fund for multiple tasks (what if my consultant charges less)?
Yes. Please note that the awarded amount is fixed at $1000 for individual artists and $5000 for organizations. The scope of your application proposal should reflect your goals for spending the full amount on business or financial related tasks. You might, therefore, plan to hire more than one consultant for more than one task to take advantage of the full fund amount.
How will applications be selected?
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and must meet all eligibility requirements to be considered. Eligible applicants will be awarded funding on a first-come, first-served basis until all funds are distributed.
Will I need to report back to CACHE on how the funds were used?
Yes. CACHE will request a grant report by the end of 2026. The grant report will highlight goals achieved through your Take Action opportunity and celebrate the work you do as artists and art organizations!
Why is CACHE offering this kind of support?
CACHE understands that being an artist or running an arts organization takes more work than just creating great community programs, exhibitions, or performances. It also means navigating budgets, contracts, marketing, fundraising, operations, and the long-term work of sustaining a practice or organization. Through Take Action, CACHE supports the artists and organizations shaping the creative future of Northwest Arkansas by investing in the systems that help creative work grow, last, and thrive. We care deeply about the people doing this work and want to help artists build lasting lives and careers here in our region.
