TechJazz is an ensemble exploring the intersection between jazz music performance and technology. This ensemble is born out of my larger project, “A.I. Harmony: Learning to Listen”, which investigates music composition and performance powered by technological innovation. TechJazz is an ensemble incarnation following a series of solo works.
At the heart of this project is the belief that technology can enhance and expand the expressive possibilities of human musicians and engage audiences more meaningfully. There is great uncertainty right now about the short and long-term effects of artificial intelligence in our artistic ecosystems. In direct contrast to the ongoing movement to replace human artists with A.I., my approach is to bolster a tradition of technological innovation in music where human creativity and connection are central and irreplaceable components.
