Monarch Waystation
The Medium extends our love for the community beyond our walls and into our garden. We’re so fortunate to have @jonathanperrodin helping us maintain our native plantings that attract all kinds of local pollinators, including the beloved monarch who’s on the endangered species list due to their dwindling numbers. We’re doing our part by establishing a monarch waystation at The Medium and maintaining our native plantings, including milkweed which is the sole host plant for monarch butterfly caterpillars. Female monarchs exclusively lay their eggs on milkweed leaves, which serve as the primary food source for the larvae.
CPR Preparedness Training
The Medium cares deeply about the well-being of our community, and that includes being prepared for emergencies. Our staff recently participated in CPR training, equipping us with essential skills to respond to critical situations. This training reflects our commitment to creating a safe and supportive space for everyone who enters our doors.
Mental Health First Aid Training
In response to our nation’s mental health crisis, The Medium facilitated a Mental Health First Aid training on Friday, February 16 2024, with representatives from Arts One Presents, As Is Consulting, CACHE, Canopy Northwest Arkansas, INTERFORM, Shiloh Museum of Ozark History, and R. McClintock Woodworking.
This groundbreaking skills-based course gives people the tools to identify, understand, and respond to someone who might be struggling with a mental health or substance use challenge — and connect them with appropriate support and resources when necessary. All participants are certified for 3 years.
Menstrual Equity Panel
The Medium hosted a Menstrual Equity Panel on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The panel discussion was part of The Medium’s partnership with The Kind Project, addressing period poverty, fostering inclusivity, and destigmatizing menstruation. In 2023, The Medium began providing free access to period products, supporting vulnerable populations, and advocating for equitable opportunities.

The Artist Pantry
In 2024, The Artist Pantry was established to strengthen our commitment to supporting creatives. By stocking our shelves with non-perishable and ready-made foods, we strive to remove obstacles related to food access, ensuring that the creatives we serve have access to nourishment.
The Artist Pantry is located within The Medium’s ‘Gathering Room,’ and is available to The Medium’s creative community with no questions asked.
